Finding a Google Ads freelancer in DACH: the 5 criteria that matter
How to find the right Google Ads freelancer for the German-speaking market — five criteria that separate a senior specialist from an expensive generalist, and why remote is no downside.

Finding a Google Ads freelancer in the DACH region is easy. Finding the right one is the actual job — because there’s a world of difference between “does Google Ads” and “does Google Ads in a way that moves your ROAS”. These five criteria separate the senior specialist from the expensive generalist.
1. Real focus, not “all channels”
Anyone who “does” Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, SEO and social at the same time is rarely deep in any of them. Look for someone whose core competence is Google Ads and conversion tracking — not one bullet on a long list of services.
2. Tracking as the foundation, not an add-on
Without clean measurement you’re optimising blind. Ask specifically: how is this measured? GA4, GTM, server-side, enhanced conversions, GDPR-compliant? If the answer is vague, the tracking probably is too. This is what a clean setup looks like: how I track (in German).
3. Evidence, not buzzwords
“Data-driven”, “performance-oriented”, “holistic” — empty words. Demand real examples: which problem, which lever, which result? See the case studies (in German).
4. A willingness to say no
A good specialist will tell you honestly when hiring someone doesn’t pay off for you yet — or when your budget is better spent running it yourself with tools (in German). Anyone who sells everything to everyone is optimising for their revenue, not yours.
“But I want someone local”
Google Ads happens in the account, not in an office. A remote specialist works just as directly — often more directly, because there’s no travel, no office overhead and no junior sitting in between. Location is irrelevant to account work. Response time and know-how are not.
5. Direct line, full access
You should be talking to the person who does the work — and your accounts (Google Ads, GA4, GTM) should belong to you, with full access. That protects you from dependency and makes any later switch painless.
Remote means the whole German-speaking market, no compromise
I work remotely with companies across Germany — Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, wherever. My focus is on businesses with a serious ad budget that want to scale.
